If you don’t know who David Archuleta is, he is the runner up from the seventh season of American Idol. But he is also known as one of the biggest teen heartthrobs of the mid-2000’s. His song “Crush” hit number one on the Billboard music chart in August 2008.
Archie has now taken to TikTok to make fun of his most iconic song. Some fans asked for clarification of some of the lyrics and Archuleta, being the TikToker he is, made two very serious videos, explaining what they are.
In one video he is seen replying to a fan’s comment that says “Did you ever figure out if you were crazy or falling in love?”
He stays quiet for the majority of the video, then says “No,” and smiles.
This comment was posted on a video of Archuleta where he zooms in on his eye with the track, “Bury A Friend” by Billie Eilish, in the background.
The inquisitive comments didn’t stop there. Another fan commented on the reply video with another question about his song. They asked for clarification on the main lyrics of the song.
“Is it real OR just another crush,” said Archuleta in his TikTok. “I know it sounds like is it really just, but it’s actually is it real or just another crush. I hate to break it to y’all.”
This Teen Heartthrob Meets Up With Superfans
David Archuleta has also been seen posting TikToks with some of his superfans as well. Brooke Averick also known as LadyEfron on TikTok has recently posted videos with Archuleta.
Their first video together begins with Averick talking about how she didn’t go to school for two days after Archuleta lost Idol. He then pops into the end of this video, and her fans were freaking out over it in the comments.
“I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t David being with you,” said one fan on her TikTok.
She also posted another TikTok featuring Archuleta, but this one had a twist. She began the new video talking about how a lot of people asked her to sing on her TikTok. She immediately begins to belt out “Crush” by David Archuleta. Until, Archuleta comes into the frame, and says “That’s fine Brooke, but maybe try it with a little more…”
He then begins to sing “Crush” and it sounds exactly like the version we know, and love. If you didn’t already have heart eyes for David Archuleta, you definitely will after this video.
Archuleta Will Release a New Single Thursday
David Archuleta is releasing “Movin'” a new pop single, on July 29. He has advertised for the song on his Instagram, but not yet on TikTok.
Although we hope that Archuleta’s visiting of his superfan wasn’t only in relation to advertisement of himself, and his new music. It’s not looking too good. It’s no secret that she has a very popular account, so this really could’ve been the reason for the collaboration.
Even though he doesn’t necessarily need more advertisement for the song, he could have done this collaboration to broadcast himself to a younger audience. His Idol season ended in May of 2008, so it’s possible that he’s trying to reach the an audience from TikTok that may have been in diapers when his song was a hit.
